High + Low: The D’Orsay Flat

I know many of us are still seeing the white stuff outside our windows, but I couldn’t help but satisfy my craving for all things springtime. This includes checking out what’s what in the world of flats. I kept seeing Jenni Kayne’s d’Orsay flats everywhere. As d’Orsays were originally designed for men, (and wide feet) the have a menswear feel, but they’re also pretty sexy on. Colour me intrigued, but I’m not about to test these out for the $450 pricetag. So I’ve found a bunch of great alternatives that fit the bill! (And a few others with a strap for those of you who may find the fit to be better.)

Jenni Kayne Suede D’Orsay flat $450 – Jenni Kayne | D’Orsay pointed toe flats $19.80 – Forever21 | Audrey flat $79.98 – ShoeMint | Jeffrey Campbell In Love flat $98 – Nasty Gal

Additional options: Dolce Vita Lance flats $99 – Free People | Report Jessica Flat $70 – Swell | With ankle strap: Olivia flat $38 – Need Supply | Know Your Tuft flat $175 – Mod Cloth | Dolley D’orsay flats $20 – Lulu’s | Various Jeffret Campell pairs at Free People

High + Low: The Reclaimed Wood Mirror

Something about a new year creates a desire for all things new; a new haircut, a new style. Rearranging things in my home would typically suffice, but I’d love to inject something else into the mix. The trouble with objects for the home is that they can be quite costly. I love this salvaged boat mirror from Restoration Hardware but I don’t love the price. Surely reclaimed wood comes at a better price somewhere! With a little research, alternatives can be found at a fraction of the price. (Even more options available if you feel like a little DIY!)

Salvaged boat wood mirror $395 – Restoration Hardware | DIY Distressed mirror $ Price of materials – Ucreate | Reclaimed wood mirror $80 – Etsy: Rustic Renaissance | Distressed wood framed mirror $179 – Etsy: Kenneth Dante

High + Low: The Rhinestone Necklace

New Years is all about the anticipation and excitement of a promising year ahead. Even when it’s a low-key night, I like to ring in the new year with a little bit of glamour. You could easily dress up any outfit, including the comfy standby of jeans and a tee, by adding something like the Flower Lattice necklace from J.Crew. But afterspending that comes with the holidays, I’m sure purse strings have been tightened. So I’ve found a few shining alternatives, at a fraction of the price, that will still have you looking like a million bucks!

Flower Lattice Necklace $228 – J.Crew | Rhinestone & Pearlescent Chain Necklace $14.80 – Forever21 | Pretty Pearl Leaf Necklace $16 – Dorothy Perkins | Hematite Large Statement Necklace $38.50 – Last Call

High + Low: The Gold Skirt

With the holiday season upon us, and gatherings at what seems to be every corner, I’m sure some of you are on the search for the perfect festive threads. Adding a little sparkle is fitting for this time of year, but I’m not as glitzy as some of the lovely sequin offerings I see in stores. A good alternative? Metallics. They’re just enough shimmer and less of a hassle. I love this golden Diane von Furstenberg skirt, but the price (and the length at only 14″) certainly gave me pause. Good thing it only needed to serve as inspiration for my low finds!

Diane von Furstenberg Addie Jacquard Skirt $285 – Bloomingdale’s | Wild Sparkle A-Line Skirt $38 – Francesca’s | Gold Jacquard Full Skirt $72 – Topshop + Nordstrom | Monique Skirt $148 – Walter Baker

High + Low: The Wool & Leather Coat

I live in a city where it’s almost guaranteed that the cold weather will be sticking around for a good 5 months. Your coat becomes a uniform, since it’s all anyone ever sees. As with anything else, it’s nice to have a few options when it comes to outerwear. But it isn’t easy when you fall in love with pieces like this $529 Taylor Coat from Club Monaco. The biker style differs from your usual classic, feminine, or puffer jackets that are out there, and the added leather accents are right on trend this season. It’s polished yet slightly rebellious. (Like most of us. Am I right?) Luckily, I was able to gather a few great alternatives!

Taylor Coat $529 – Club Monaco | Norra Jacket $98 – Need Supply | ASOS Biker Coat $170 – ASOS | Coat with Quilted Leather Sleeves $229 – Zara

I also love this similar style coat from Zara availble in a rich maroon. It’s great way to incorporate those deep red hues of this season into your wardrobe.
