My Bedroom Makeover Reveal

bedroom-makeover-1

Friends I’ve been a secretive little busy bee working on a home makeover project over the past few weeks, and today I’m thrilled to finally be able to share my completed bedroom / closet makeover with you. My finished room was created with the help of some gorgeous paints from the HGTV HOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Softer Side color collection launch. I’ll be sharing a special mood board post next week to show you where my inspiration came from, and how I used HGTV HOME™ by Sherwin-Williams Interior Paint to bring it all together (there will be an awesome giveaway too…so don’t miss that). But today let’s get to the photos!

bedroom-before-1 bedroom-before-2

Let’s start with my bedroom in it’s sad non-painted state. Now you have have an idea of what I was working with.

I absolutely love the way that the dark grey Peppercorn painted walls creates such a great anchor for my hodgepodge of furniture. Before it looked like I was storing discards from a garage sale, but now, it somehow all works.

Of course I would I love to refinish my grandparent’s old dresser or buy a new bed (one that isn’t a futon frame from my high school years), but I can honestly say that they don’t bother me anymore. All because of a couple of cans of paint!

My little walk-in closet has got to be one of my favorite spaces in our home now. That Charming Pink paint really transformed it into something, well…charming!

I was even motivated to organize my shoes, switch out all my old hangers for wooden ones, and then finger-space everything (that’s an old habit from my days working in retail…I can’t help it). I’ve never been so excited to get dressed in the morning as I am now!

I was looking forward to painting my room before I began…but I could have never anticipated what an amazing transformation a few coats of paint could bring. Climbing into bed after a long day has never been so rewarding! This is one project that is definitely worth every second of effort that it took! I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Hi! I just found your blog, and I love it! The gray walls are just beautiful. Yes, your grandparents’ dresser looks beautiful against it. The pink closet is so pretty, and I love your little pops of gold. Lovely & peaceful room!

You did an amazing job. Love the paint colours! I need to paint my closet now! And I love what you said about the hangers…I finger-space mine too!

I love that soft pink in the closet paired with the bedroom wall colour. Also, I’ve got that exact same dresser, I really love the soft gold colour if the pulls (mine is also from my grandma). Well done!

I love that you have the same dresser, also given to you by your grandmother! That’s the best! xo

Love the way the room looks now. Definitely an upgrade. The gray adds that much more ‘luxe’ to it all.

Now I am off to the hardware store to collect supplies…

It looks absolutely beautiful! I felt the same way after I moved and painted my new bedroom the exact color I wanted. Love the pops of pink! :)

Love what have you done with that room. This gray color is still one of my favourite, I find it very elegant. Love how you used an old furniture and how it came out with your clever transformation.

Exquisite work Ez – you have done an amazing job (and I presume with a very modest budget!)

Such a perfect haven to unwind in – this inspires me to finally finish my own bedroom :D

Thank you so much Cate! And yes, you’re right…my budget was virtually non-existent (I was so thankful to have the paint provided for me). Fortunately half the fun for me is trying to get creative and make something out of what I have on hand or can afford. It can be quite the challenge, but is really gratifying when all is said and done. I hope you get to your bedroom makeover soon! It will be worth the effort…I promise! :-) xo Ez

Looks terrific! Where is the throw on the bed from? Is that from urban outfitters? Thanks so much in advance!!

Thanks so much! The bright pink “throw” is actually just a scarf from Forever21. :-) xo Ez

    Ez,
This is simply stunning! I love how you can take something quite simple (paint) and suddenly transform the space into such a thing of beauty! I love your Grandparents dresser – (I also have a chest of drawers that belonged to my grandparents) and I think that the eclectic collection of furniture with a story is much nicer than a complete store bought suite. My favourite bit if the book with the mirror and the stack of books and treasures – beautiful. Thanks as always for being so inspiring – just what I needed ahead of my wardrobe and room clear out this weekend… I am now thinking I need to buy paint! x

Oh thank you so much for your sweet comment Leyla! I always thought that I preferred mis-matched furniture as well…at least in other people’s homes…but I didn’t really love mine until I painted my room and saw them all together in a whole new light! Hooray for happy transformations! Best of luck to you on your room transformation! xo Ez

Opps! typo above was meant to say “my favourite bit ‘is the nook’ with the mirror and the stack of books…”

Such a beautiful room, you must be delighted. I am totally inspired now. Would you please explain finger spacing the hangers? I am probably being dim but your wardrobe looks so lovely I want every thing in it :)

    • Ez

Thanks so much! And you’re not being “dim”…I should have explained finger spacing. The term refers to the act of spacing your hangers an even finger’s width apart from one another (or in my case, about 3 fingers, since I don’t have all that much clothing). It’s common in retail shops, as it helps to create a neater looking store. :-) xo Ez

      • Pilbara Pink / /

Thank you for that – I see it now, if you know what I mean. I shall finger space my wardrobe tonight after work :) I don’t have room for doors so you can just see through the sheer curtain over mine. Such order just makes my heart beat a little faster #neatfreak ;-)

Stunning Ez! I’m always wanting to take rooms back to white, but this has me thinking I should just work with the colour I have. I’m hugely inspired :)

Oh wow, your bedroom looks amazing! I love all the details and the grey with pink. Such a beautiful combo!

I adore this room! I’ve been scouring the internet for a striped sheet set like your grey striped pillowcases. Pretty please tell me where they’re from!

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much Jamie! The sheets are actually from Target! Can you believe it?!
