Leslie – DIY: Flowers in Repurposed Tins

A Creative Mint

I love using food or drink containers from my local Asian markets for little bouquets. They usually end up on my kitchen window sill so I can enjoy them -anything to add some joy while I am doing a mountain of dishes! In the Los Angeles area I go to Mitsuwa for Japanese food products, Ranch 99 for Chinese, and  Indian Sweets and Spices

What a great idea! That first photo is gorgeous – the orange of the tin really complement the orange flower.

Our toothbrushes sit in a chinese condensed milk can. Sometimes we have the picture of the groovy dude with the big beard facing forward, sometimes the strips of chinese characters. And when it gets a bit rusty and minging, we cook something new with condensed milk, and hey presto, new tin! Twice a day I get the bonus of lol’ing at “Longevity Brand”- the idea that condensed milk is in someway healthful!

I love re-purposing tins for vases…but your tins are absolutely adorable. Never seen any like these. Your photos are gorgeous also!

Such gorgeousness! Love the sprigs of rosemary … I bet they make the bouquets all the more enjoyable.

Leslie, those are just stunning, absolutely gorgeous. I’ve always preferred jam jars, tins, cans and drinking glasses to vases.

I love this idea! It certainly made me feel better about having to use an old Vitamin Water bottle to hold the flowers that were left over from filling my favourite vase… not quite the same effect really but as I’ve just moved and none of my stuff has arrived yet it certainly cheers the place up! :)

SMART! What a super great idea. I have a bunch of cool Japanese soda cans that would be perfect for this. Yes! High fives.

Wow, what lovely arrangements! I’m always shopping at our local asian market and I always buy the same Jasmine tea pictured above, so thanks for the fabulous idea of how to reuse them! (This was definitely a ‘Why didn’t I think of that? moment!)

    :)
